Hello,

We've got a 2008 cz1 with an intermittent dash fault - when the weather is cold, the display / trip computer / radio do not work. Once the car has been driven 5 miles and warmed up, it all works again.

Has anyone experienced this? Is it a known fault?

It's still under warranty, but of course being an intermittent fault I don't want to mess around endlessly taking it back for them to not find the fault...

Cheers
Kevin

Mine too! Did it Monday & Tuesday morning, never done it before. :o

I assumed it might be a sensor that was iced up maybe? Does anyone know where it's located?

Hello,

Not just ours then, in this recent cold snap the remote locking has also stopped working.

I suspect some poor electrical connections somewhere, which contract apart when very cold. Brass and copper expand and contract quite a lot with temperature - hence central heating pipes make a noise as they warm up and cool down. Once the interior is up to a decent temperature (i.e. after several miles) it all comes back on, by which time it's forgotten the time and radio presets...

Will have to book it in for a few days...

Hi,

We have a 2005 1.5 Sport. Twice recently during very cold weather we were able to get into the car using the remote, but the dash did not light and the car did not start - not a flicker from anything. Then after being left for a time while the weather warmed up, it started first press of the key. Our garage fitted a new battery and checked its input and output, and checked the terminals of the starter motor, but could find nothing else malfunctioning. They also wondered whether a sensor was on the blink, but couldn't identify which one. Can anyone offer some suggestions to sort this problem, please ?

Thanks,

AlanF

I have a similar problem, but the central locking also stops working for a short time.

I'm going to look at the fuse boxs today to see if i can see any loose connections.

: Sticker Bomb.
check for any connections that aren't proper covered up that may cause moisture to seep in to.

Wow , ive found my problem

The fuse was hanging out, number 10 with the yellow clip holding it in, just pushed on it and the radio and central locking work again.

Master LCD Unit not working ,.
CZ1 2007 model, 1.1 litr 3 door hatch

I am having the exact same problem as mrrob,.
the Master Unit LCD is not working. So no idea of radio station temp etc etc.. The raido works fine.

Also every now and then, the LCD unit will come on, everything looks fine, except its showing completely the wrong info, then maybe if it stays on long enough the time will appear as it takes it from the radio, but then it goes off again and may not come on at all..

Please, anyone know how to fix this.

Please use easy to follow instructions,

Regards

This probably wont help as its still the same with mine but apparently it could be frozen? i laughed to lol

apparently alot of 06/07 renault have a similar problem but with the radio as opposed to the actual display.

i took mine to mitsi and they quoted £192+vat that just to order the display apparently its a new revision. then they would charge £82 per hour to fit it bare in mind he did say its a 20 minute job but they would charge the hour and spend time testing the new unit ??? which i didnt understand but there u go

so i could spend £274 + vat for them to put a new shiny one in but then we still dont know if thats actually going to work?

ive noticed with mine that first thing every morning when the car is frozen it works perfectly as soon as im off and driven 10-15 mins its out ive tried banging the dash just incase its faulty or has a cold joint but nothing seems to bring it back to life guarenteed the next morning its working fine though.

ive taken the multi display out checked it, it looks brand new still even took it apart and theres no apparent damage or meesed up solder bits so god knows

anyone shed some more light and ill send you some very much earned beer money

Reading through the comments and then trying a bit of Google translate, it seems to be a 'cytop lacquer' or a clear lacquer. That would explain the moisture bridging the pins/contacts theory.

I also read-up on the composition of a PCB to try and get some idea; the top layer is called a 'silkscreen' so I guess it would be similar to a coat of clear lacquer.
