Right guys I've been after one for ages and finally found a company to make them!! Woop!

But I have to find another 4 people :( as its not worth there while as they have to make the moulds etc. so basically there coming in at £399.99 each.

Anyone interested. I can get CJ ones made also but again same as above you need 5 people minimum order plus each of you have to find one person to buy a CA one :p haha

Spoke to the guy today and he's willing to make CJ carbon bonnets same as above

They do have a website and here's there link for those wishing to check them out

Nope no date as yet waiting until I get the numbers then its all go as minimum order is 5 otherwise its not worth his while to make a one off your looking at like £800 due to him having to make up the moulds etc.

Tbh prob won't be until after Christmas as everyone will be saving for presents and drink etc lol and that's if people are even interested lol

I might be interested but as everyone else - after christmass, and also if the "look" of it will satify me.Are there any pics of it?Is it just a plain one like standard CJ one but carbon one or is it like one that J-man has (i mean - with vents?).

:)

i imagine it will be a standard looking one as the person making them will be making moulds.

Another thing I may add is I'm popping down south next weekend to see a company about some new latex paint called plastidip as need my front bumper down and this wil help prevent stone chips.

Anyway they do carbon fibre but its like an over lay on original panels but I spoke to one of the guys briefly about if I make my own fibre glass moulds they can then make carbon fibre replacement panels so this may also be an option but will find out prices etc

Carbon skins shouldn't be top hard to make but then a pain in the arse to fit

Carbon skin would be a doddle to fit.
Grind off the existing skin, bond on the carbon one, trim, finish.

Job done.

If it was just a door skin, it would actually be easier than replacing a steel skin.

Sure handle would need doing, but window could possibpy be left in and wound up.
The skin is only for the lower half of the door, and if you wanted carbon arpund the window too, you would need to layer it on top of the frame.

If you wanted a carbon door, then you would need a carbon frame made as well as the skin.
At that point, you would need to transfer everything over, as well as giving the person making the door a huge headache.
Lol.

I'm sure someone like George could confirm this info.

Doing the skin would be pointless as the weight saving would be negligible.
I meant would it be possible to replace the whole door with carbon?
I know they weigh about 40kg each, and I know the carbon doors for RX7s weigh about 3kg.
So maybe doing 2 doors could save 70kg roughly? Pretty huge weight saving.

Would definitely make your pocket weigh a fair bit less too.

With the potential weight saving it would be feesable but only if you also done rest of the car then the price of all would be looking at a good £2000 if not more so unless its a balls out track car and not for road use its pointless, although would be mega cool!!! Lol

Yes I know, it'd be cheaper to just buy a Civic which has these parts already available

You can get an incredible amount of weight out of standard doors by carefully removing unnecessary steel and mechanisms and poly windows etc For instance there are side impact protection bars in there that weigh quite a lot - central locking and associatted wiring far more steel than is needed to support the window mechs which can be cut away.

Pic of one of my rear doors. locking mech still works but the plasic windows are fixed up. No wiring in door at all, it had windows, locks and stereo wiring, (short 4 door) door bar removed. internal steel work removed. Door card still goes in place and holds on standard fittings, if I didn't have to keep the door cards for the rules I compete under I could have removed even more of the steel.
