I have a 1.6 02 plate mirage. I have a major loss of power and don't no what's causing it, I have plenty of petrol, it's not miss firing. I think it has something to do with the air flow meter or along those lines for some reason.

Has anybody had the same problem? Please help

If it was the AFM you'd expect juddering.

So is it smooth still? Just a lot less power? Seems very odd if so... maybe worth checking where the accelerator cable is mounted to the inlet manifold, make sure it's in the right place (i.e tension on the cable, but the butterfly of the throttle body fully closed).

Good call Andy, wouldn't have thought of that, but it would certainly fit!

I was aiming for MAF plug unplugged and ECU gone into limp mode. Or, because of the weather, a good dose of water somewhere :)

So, question to the OP, what have you recently done to the car?

Thanks for getting back guys.

No it's not smooth at all, I go to pull of and i loose power, I have to take my foot off gas and re apply do get a tiny bit of power for it to move. I can slowly get to 25 30 mph but it just keeps spluttering and trying to giv up. I will have a look at the maf plug and cable as you said. Thanks for the help.

I had it plugged into the diagnostics machine just and it came up with 3 issues which were the AFM, can sensor and one more think I forgot will have to find out what it was
