first of all you need for this is a crayon of your choice and a lighter.

then melt the crayon onto the gearknob

remove excess crayon by rubbing it on a sheet of paper like you are colouring in.

then depends what you have really, i used laquer and just sprayed a thin layer over my gearknob and then job done :D

I did that to my steering wheel! well, instead of using crayons and a lighter I used acrylic marker pens!

as long as a layer of lacquer is sprayed over it the crayon wont melt in your hands. ;)
